A year to forget

The year 2012 will not be looked back on with fond memories for Scotland. Only two wins from eight games, not a single one in competitive action, and yet another major tournament passing us by with noses pressed up against the window. Only if you’re into football betting and laid on the inevitability of Craig Levein’s eventual sacking can you have taken any satisfaction from the year as a Scotland fan.

The Scotland national team ended their season in the early hours of Sunday morning with a comprehensive and humbling defeat at the hands of the USA in Jacksonville, Florida. The USA’s movement between the lines and speed on the break destroyed Scotland as thoroughly as local singer Victoria Zarlenga did the American national anthem before the match.

Scotland squad named for USA friendly

Scotland have named their squad for the friendly against the USA in Florida on May 26th. Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes misses out due to his side’s involvement in the League One play-offs, while West Brom’s James Morrison has been ruled out with a knee injury. Two other players that had been expected to be included, Graeme Dorrans and Jamie Mackie, have been left out as their respective partners are both due to give birth.
