Scotland have named their squad for the friendly against Australia at Easter Road on Wednesday 15th August. The squad features only three players based in Scotland (James Forrest, Charlie Mulgrew and Andy Webster), a disappointment after seeing players such as Dundee United’s Johnny Russell receive call ups to recent squads.
Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes has earned his second call-up after missing the trip to face the USA due to his involvement in the League One play-offs, and there will be much anticipation of seeing him in a Scotland shirt for the first time on home soil. Goalkeeper Craig Gordon, currently without a club after leaving Sunderland, misses out and is replaced by Cardiff’s David Marshall, while Southampton’s Danny Fox, who made his debut in November 2009, will have the chance to add to his solitary cap.
The squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Matt Gilks (Blackpool), David Marshall (Cardiff City), Allan McGregor (Besiktas)
Defenders: Phil Bardsley (Sunderland), Christophe Berra (Wolves), Gary Caldwell (Wigan), Daniel Fox (Southampton), Grant Hanley (Blackburn), Alan Hutton (Aston Villa), Russell Martin (Norwich), Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic), Andy Webster (Hearts)
Midfielders: Charlie Adam (Liverpool), Barry Bannan (Aston Villa), Don Cowie (Cardiff), Graham Dorrans (West Brom), James Forrest (Celtic), Shaun Maloney (Wigan), James Morrison (West Brom), Matt Phillips (Blackpool), Robert Snodgrass (Norwich)
Strikers: Jamie Mackie (Queens Park Rangers), Steven Naismith (Everton), Jordan Rhodes (Huddersfield)
