Under-21s: Austria v Scotland

Scotland’s Under-21 side go into tonight’s game against Austria at the Cashpoint-Arena in Altach with a realistic chance of qualifying for the play-off round as one of the four best second placed sides. A 3-0 win over Luxembourg on Saturday, with all the goals at St. Mirren Park coming in the second half, kept alive their hopes of being one of the eight sides to reach the finals in Israel next summer.

Under-21s: Bulgaria 2-2 Scotland

Scotland’s Under-21 side came within moments of an important victory against Bulgaria in Lovech last week, denied the three points with the final kick of the game. Having trailed 1-0 at half time, two goals from Jordan Rhodes put Scotland on course for their third win of the campaign, but a scrappy equaliser from Cherno More centre back Rosen Kolev rescued a point for the home side.

Under-21s: Scotland 0-0 Netherlands

On Wednesday evening something a little odd happened. There was as much interest in the fortunes of the Scotland Under-21 team as there was in the senior side. Having beaten the Netherlands in Nijmegen in November, there was a sense of anticipation surrounding the return fixture, not least because a win would have sent Billy Stark’s men top of their group.
