Preview: Scotland v Estonia

Scotland begin a new era on Wednesday evening at Pittodrie. Occasionally that term is preceded by the word brave, or even expectant, but the hopes of the Tartan Army are now so frugal, they’d probably be happy if Gordon Strachan’s tenure can eventually be described simply as the, we got slightly better era.

Match review: Luxembourg 1-2 Scotland

Scotland fans weren’t asking for too much last night, they weren’t expecting a goals avalanche or some tiki-taka themed football. Just a reason or two to look to the future and say “well maybe it’s not that bad”. Perhaps it wasn’t the fixture to look for it, after all most people had derided the fixture in some shape way or form over the last week. It was a waste of time to take on a minnow, what’s the point of picking the old guard, and then conversely when a clutch of those first choices threw a sickie, what’s the point of picking guys like Shinnie, Barr and Kelly?

Match preview: Luxembourg v Scotland

On Wednesday night Scotland travel to Luxembourg to take part in a friendly that, frankly, few of their fans are enticed by. The first game of the post Craig Levein era seems somewhat of a damp squib with Billy Stark in caretaker charge and with little chance of landing the job on a permanent basis.

Scotland squad named for Australia friendly

Scotland have named their squad for the friendly against Australia at Easter Road on Wednesday 15th August. The squad features only three players based in Scotland (James Forrest, Charlie Mulgrew and Andy Webster), a disappointment after seeing players such as Dundee United’s Johnny Russell receive call ups to recent squads.

USA 5-1 Scotland: Reaction

The Scotland national team ended their season in the early hours of Sunday morning with a comprehensive and humbling defeat at the hands of the USA in Jacksonville, Florida. The USA’s movement between the lines and speed on the break destroyed Scotland as thoroughly as local singer Victoria Zarlenga did the American national anthem before the match.
